CYLINDER RE-BORINGThis is required when the piston, piston rings and cylinders are damaged, either after wear and tear or excessive usage (continuous high speed use, or usage without proper lubrication). When the cylinder wall is damaged, it can be re-bored to oversize with oversize pistons. |
CYLINDER RE-SLEEVEINGIt is necessary to resleeve a cylinder when the damage is too severe, and cannot be removed by boring the cylinder |
CYLINDER HEAD SKIMMINGWe are able to resurface cylinder heads of most vehicles, from the smallest vehicle to the larger commercials, motor cycles and boats. In addition we can also resurface cylinder blocks and manifolds should they be damaged or distort.If an engine has overheated or blown a head gasket the cylinder head has a tendency to become distort. If this is the case we are able to resurface or skim the cylinder head to bring it back into tolerance and create the perfect sealing finish. We are able to resurface most petrol cylinder heads with the valves in place, however on the majority of diesel cylinder heads the valve protrude above the surface of the head and would need to be removed prior to resurfacing the head. Once the head has been resurfaced we may need to reface valves and valve seats to set them back to the correct depth/height. |
RECONDITIONING CONRODSConrods work under tremendous stress, with the weight of the piston assembled on top, changing direction more than hundred times per minute depending on the RPM. The Conrod periodic inspection is not under taken with time, the Conrod Bolts get elongated and develop Cracks. With experience it is found that continuous running of the Conrod it develops excessive taper and ovality which either increases or decreases the Oil gap resulting to the major Failure of the Conrod coursing damage to the engine. The main purpose of reconditioning conrods is to match a set that are straight and of the correct length. |
CRANKSHAFT POLISHING AND GRINDINGA crankshaft wears with use, as a result of high mileage. The clearances between crankshaft and bearings becomes excessive. The greater the clearance the lower the oil pressure, the worse the lubrication. Depending on tolerances the crankshaft or camshaft can be machined to the correct tolerance. |
